Computer Icons

Computer icons were first created to help casual computer users access programs and files easily. They are now a permanent feature on all computers.

They are a picture or symbol that links to the related file. It's the easiest way to start a program or open a file. Just click (or double-click) on the icon (picture) and it will bring up the desired item.

For example, a brand new computer has many icons on the desktop. Some of them are useful, but others are just for advertising purposes.

Icons play an important role for the home user. You can change icons to suit your tastes. Icons for programs or files that are used everyday can be placed strategically on your desktop, taskbar, start menu, or anywhere else.

If you prefer "clean" icons, you can remove the shortcut arrow from those links. You can add a "shutdown" button on your desktop to turn off your computer.

There are many thing you can do with icons. You can add, remove, create, or change them anywhere on your computer. Your computer will take on its own personality by the icons that are used on it.

This article will give you a few ways to organize and work with your icons. You can create your own style with the icons that you install on your computer.
