Computer Hardware Information
Your computer hardware information is the specifications of your particular computer. You can access this information by following these steps.
Press the "Window key". It is the one with 4 squares in it that looks like a flag waving in the wind.
On either side of the space bar, outside the "Alt" key, is a key with the Windows logo. This is the button near the Ctrl button on the bottom left hand side of the keyboard.
Start>Control Panel>System and Security>System. (info)
Computer Hardware Information
Windows Edition. This is the operating system that is on your computer. On the sample page, the computer has Windows 7.
The Home Basic or Home Premium versions are enough for the home users.
If you have used features on another version and would like to access it, then you can buy the other version. Otherwise, Home Basic and Premium will fit your needs.
System. There are 4 categories listed here; Rating, Processor, Memory, and bit Operating System.
1) Ratings. This gives you a numerical rating of the performance of your computer. What you are doing with Computer Cleanup Tools has a direct effect on these ratings. We will not cover the details of these ratings here.
2) Processor. It is good to know the basic details of your processor. Although we won't make any changes here, knowing how it works in your computer will help you when you buy another machine. (info)
The processor on the sample page is enough for the home user. Dual-core and 1.5GHz (or higher) are the processors that you want for your next laptop.
The processor type is more important in a laptop because the power demands are different. An efficient processor will prolong the battery life which is important for a laptop.
In a desktop that stays plugged in all the time, the processor installed at the factory is more than enough for the home user.
(The sample picture is my desktop computer. It's only a single core processor. It works just fine.)
3) Memory. If this number is less than 1GB, you may see a dramatic improvement. XP and Vista users can use 1GB or more in their computers.
Adding more memory into your computer is fairly simple. It can make a noticeable difference and will be covered in the this section. (info)
The memory on our sample page is 2GB's. It is enough for most home user's needs.
4) bit Operating System. It is a number that basically represents how fast a computer can process information. Usually, the higher the number, the faster your computer.
The older systems were 32-bit, with 64-bit becoming more the standard now. This number won't affect the home user.
Computer Name, Domain, and Workgroup Setting.
This information is listed alongside the computer hardware information of your machine. This data was entered into your computer when you first set it up after you bought it.
If you would like to change anything here, Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance. Under System, click the "View amount of RAM and processor speed" link.
On the far right side, click the "Change" link. Now you can change the Computer description name. The Computer name and Full computer name will be whatever computer type you enter, laptop or desktop. (picture)
(For example, if you enter Ben's desktop as your Computer description, desktop will appear as the Computer name and Full
computer name.) After you change the Computer description, click the "change" button.
If you need to change the Workgroup name, just move the pointer to the space after "Workgroup" and type in the name that you want it to be. (This is the name of your home network.)
Windows Activation. This is simply the product key ID number of your operating system.
This is the computer hardware information of your machine. The next section will give you more tips for your computer to allow it to run better and smoother.
